-Meganium- by sporezofchaos -Meganium- by sporezofchaos
Updated version of a realistic take inspired by non-other than arvalis' awesome interpretations. I tried to use existing animal anatomy and avoid the whole "dinosaur look" while still emulating arvalis' drawing style. I am planning on doing the rest of the Johto region starters.

-Chikorita are born with fleshy buds that resemble plant like structures but unlike Bulabasaurs' symbiotic relationship with a separate plant species the buds are actually fleshy protrusions that mimic leafs and buds for camouflage and exothermic regulation. After growing multple times in size. the now Bayleef's skin turns a dull yellow as thicker dermal plates develop beneath. As it ages the buds and "leaf" on it's head develop until the head "leaf" breaks off at a joint and splits in two creating antenna used as chemical receptors and when it reaches adulthood the now Meganium's "petals" release pheromones that not only to attract a mate but also Bug type Pokemon that it eats to supplement its omnivorous diet and clean its body from parasites.

inspired by arvalis and featuring the works of RtRadke

They look like giant prehistoric turtles ! I like it a lot.  I can see lots of different types of animal anatomy in this and it flows together very well.
